Cookie Policy

Versie 1.0 · 10 september 2026

VeloGrit uses as few cookies as possible. This site carries no trackers, no advertising networks and no third-party analytics. What is stored, and why, is set out below — including data that lives not in a cookie but in your browser's local storage.

1What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. Some are needed to make a site work — for instance to remember that you're logged in. Others are used to track your behaviour or target advertising. VeloGrit only uses the first kind.

2The cookie VeloGrit sets itself

NamePurposeRetention
vg_session Remembers that you're logged in, so you don't need to request a new sign-in link on every visit. Contains no personal data, only a random code pointing to your session. 30 days, or until you sign out

This cookie is HttpOnly (unreadable to scripts), Secure (sent only over an encrypted connection) and SameSite=Lax (not sent from other websites). That makes it unsuitable for tracking you and more resistant to misuse.

This is a strictly necessary functional cookie. Under the Dutch Telecommunications Act, no consent is required for it. That's why VeloGrit shows no cookie banner: there is nothing optional to decline.

3Storage in your browser

Besides that one cookie, VeloGrit keeps a few things in your browser's local storage. Technically these aren't cookies — they aren't sent to the server — but they do live on your device, so you should know about them.

NamePurposeRetention
velogrit:* A copy of your schedule, check-ins and settings, so screens appear instantly instead of only after loading. The real data lives on the server. Until you sign out or clear your browser data
velogrit:taal Your language choice, so the site opens in the right language before you're signed in. Until you change it or clear your browser data
vg_leid Briefly remembers that you were just sent to the sign-in page, so the app doesn't loop if your session has expired. Until you close the tab

4Cookies from others

VeloGrit loads no advertising or analytics scripts. There are, however, two moments where another party may set cookies:

Connecting your intervals.icu account happens on intervals.icu's own website. Whatever they set there falls under their own policy.

5Declining or deleting cookies

You can delete cookies through your browser settings. Deleting VeloGrit's session cookie signs you out, and you simply request a new sign-in link. You won't lose any data: it lives on the server, tied to your account.

If you block cookies entirely for this site, you won't be able to sign in. Without the session cookie, VeloGrit can't tell who you are.

You clear local storage in the same browser screens, usually under "site data". Signing out in the app does this too.

6Changes

If anything changes about the cookies we use, we'll update this page. The date at the top shows when that last happened.
